Cheesy

This weekend was far more savory than last weekend.

The theme ingredient: cheese.

I attended a house warming party and decided to whip up some cheese fondue, it has been a dream of mine for some time.

I used a combination of Gruyere and Swiss cheeses along with some white wine, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. It was easy, fast, and super tasty.

Here's a glamor shot:

I cut up some broccoli, french bread, and boiled some fingerling potatoes for dipping:

Sunday morning came around and my bf asked if I would be interested in chicken and waffles. Chicken and waffles you say? Have you been reading my diary?

We made cornbread waffles with cheddar cheese. Here's a shot of the batter:

We breaded chicken cutlets with Parmesan breadcrumbs and some Old Bay and threw them in the deep fryer:

The finished product:

And for those of us who needed more cheese:

This was our 2nd experience with chicken and waffles, but our 1st time making them ourselves. They were absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to eat the one that is waiting in the refrigerator for me.

Chocolate Mania

This weekend's creations were chocolate chocolate chocolate.
Saturday night my brother requested brownies be baked. Brownies? Well that didn't seem blog-worthy so we snazzed them up to make them Rocky Road Brownies by adding marshmallows, chocolate chips, and walnuts to a boxed brownie mix.

Here is an arial view:

And because brownies fresh out of the oven just scream for ice cream:

I've been meaning to use up the rest of my won-ton wrappers from my dumpling project so I decided to make some dessert dumplings. I raided the cabinet for things to stuff a dessert dumpling with and grabbed peanut butter, chocolate chips, marshmallows, caramel Hershey Kisses, and Oreos.

I fried them all up in some butter:

Then dusted them with powdered sugar and cinnamon:

Here is an innards shot:

These were absolutely amazing and I need to share them with a larger audience.
With won-tons the possibilities seem endless and I cannot wait to fry up some more.

I Did It!

After a year of the confines of a Facebook album and much persuasion from my fans, I have finally decided to turn my hobby into a blog.

Armed with a snazzy new apron, cookbooks, assorted baking accessories, and a subscription to Real Simple from the holiday season I march on into the new year. And of course now that Food Network is back with Cablevision the inspiration is endless!

My latest food eye candy includes:

Individual chicken and vegetable pot pies, the more I make this the less I use a recipe. It's basically vegetable stock, cooked chicken, frozen mixed vegetables with a biscuit on top.
(I lust after any dish that can be made using my ramekins)

I am already plotting some food schemes for this weekend, so come back for more soon!
