What do you do when you have a large tin of Christmas chocolate laying around for 9 months? Melt it down and make yourself some chocolate bark that's what you do.
Step 1: remove all the wrappings.
Step 2: melt chocolate, spread in pan
Step 3: top with whatever goodies you have on hand, in this case marshmallows, pretzels, walnuts, and raisins
Success! Now we just need to find something to do with the Cadbury mini-eggs from Easter...

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Rice Krispie Treats
On Thursday I set out to make this recipe. As I began gathering the ingredients I realized that I was missing 2 possibly key ingredients, oats and dried fruit. I was also hoping to make them into a bar rather than a ball. So really I did not make this recipe, but what I did put together was quite tasty.
Rice krispies, chocolate chips, honey, peanut butter, and butter:
Unfortunately they didn't quite stay together to be a bar cookie so it makes a bit of a mess when you are standing at the refrigerator eating it.

Rachel Ray has managed to take a rice krispie treat and kick it up about a thousand notches. 6 ingredients and about an hour later...magic.
Behold! Layer 1: peanut butter, chocolate, rice krispies
Layer 2: sugar, peanut butter, butter, rice krispies
Layer 3: chocolate, reese's pieces
Here is a cross section:
And here is a surprise photo I got of a very satisfied customer!
(yes the Saranac summer sampler was also good)

Smoque BBQ Mac and Cheese
After my lunch at S'mac last weekend I have been craving another mac and cheese dish. I found this recipe in my Diners Drive-Ins and Dives cookbook, it's from Smoque BBQ in Chicago. I have always wanted to make mac and cheese with evaporated milk so this was all very exciting for me.
Here she is covered in buttered panko breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese:
Just wait until you see what's for dessert!

Peach Shortbread
Smitten Kitchen you've done it again!
I want to apologize to everyone who doesn't get to eat one of these because you are seriously missing out. Sorry, maybe next time.
These were supposed to have brown butter in it, but seriously I got home from work at 6:30. You got another thing coming to you if you think I am going to make brown butter and freeze it and mix them in to shortbread cookies and be able to eat them before bed time.
I often wish there was something larger than a 13x9 in pan, someone engineer that for me so there can be more baked goods to go around. Thanks.
