100th Blog Post!!!

I needed to come up with a show stopper for This Is Why I'm Hot's 100th post so I consulted my "things I want to make some day" list.

I give you......mac and cheese pizza!!

I used boxed macaroni and cheese. I mixed the cheese sauce and put that on the crust first as the sauce base.

Then I spread the pasta on and sprinkled it with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.

MMmmmMmm cheesy melty goodness....

Ever since I ate my first slice of mac and cheese pizza in Wisconsin years ago I have been dreaming of making it in my own home. I am happy to say that this was an absolute success, I mean mac and cheese and pizza together, how could you really go wrong?

Deep Fried Weekend

Nothing like a weekend filled with fried food, beer, and lots of sitting around talking about other things that can be deep fried.

Mini corn dogs and avocado nuggets.

The little avocado nuggets frying up.

Deep fried Pop 'ems? Don't mind if I do!

A little dusting of powdered sugar

Of course, an innards shot.

Homemade Pasta!!

Chris received pasta maker for Christmas and we busted it out this weekend. There were some serious frustrations over finding a damn place to clamp the machine onto (4th location was a charm....sort of) and we did churn in shifts, but we were all very pleased with the results.

It begins!

Action shot!

About 200 rigatoni and 4 MEGAtoni

Amatriciana sauce, recipe courtesy of a William Sonoma Sauce cookbook, another Christmas gift.

The final outcome.

Valentine's Day

I made Chris Scrabble cookies for Valentine's Day and I'm really beside myself over how freaking cute they came out. I just used a regular sugar cookie recipe and piped on some chocolate frosting, because black frosting just isn't very tasty.

All point values are accurate.

We went to a Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives location in Westport, Ct for some stuffed cheese burgers.

I made some peanut butter pancakes and topped them with strawberry compote for a little pb & j breakfast.

Super Bowl Snacks

In my opinion the Super Bowl is just another excuse to eat like a monster. In true Canonico fashion oil drenched paper towels were front and center. On the menu this year were: fried ravioli, pigs in a blanket, chili dip (which I refuse to photograph because it looks like poop), and my personal contribution buffalo potato wedges with warm blue cheese dip.

So so sooooo good. Thank you Rachel Ray for the idea.

Happy Birthday Daddy-O

I was all caked out after my cake decorating class and I think my family was too so I opted against birthday cake for my dad's birthday. My mom suggested cheesecake, but cheesecakes scare me (what if it cracks!). So here we are with the result of some brainstorming. Strawberry cheesecake brownies. I made a strawberry compote and mixed it in with a cheesecake batter. Kind of flew by the seat of my pants in this dish and I must say it worked out well.

Shrimp Pot Pies

Tired of the same ol' chicken pot pie I got bold and made some shrimp pot pies. I didn't just change out the meats, I swapped out the sage and poultry seasoning for some Old Bay and Cayenne Pepper and the vegetable broth for milk after looking at a bunch of recipes. I can't say I loved it, but I would like to try making it again to improve it.
